BIOREGIONAL DEVELOPMENT GROUP HEADQUARTERS PERMANENT EXHIBITION
Designed and Completed with Nikki Blustin.
Client: BioRegional Development Group.
Brief: To create a professional, accessible and inspiring exhibition for the BioRegional offices, reception and exhibition area within the BedZED eco-village.
Method: An organic hexagonal form, based on recurring structures found in nature, provided the inspiration for the linking element to draw together the wide range of projects covered by BioRegional.
The hexagonal form provided a visual metaphor for the idea of community, a strong graphic identity, and the exhibition structure. Individual hexagons were made by welding together reclaimed Dexion shelving uprights. These were then bolted together to form an organic structure that guided visitors into the main exhibition space. Printed graphic boards containing information about BioRegional projects were mounted within the frames and colour coded according to project area. The flexibility in the system allows for new information to be constantly updated and displayed.
A new wall with a striking hexagonal opening was created to lead into an additional exhibition space for display of One Planet Products as well as focusing interest on the entrance to the showhome.
Completion date: September 2006.
