GREEN LIVING CENTER
Client: Islington Borough Council
Designed and completed with Nikki Blustin and KCA London
Brief: To design a three part project focussed on sustainability in the Islington area; to create an exhibition area outlining the principles of eco living, working and travelling; a meeting area and an office space for council officials - the sustainability experts.
Method: Removing the old cashiers desk in the space and steel reinforced safe area, we created 3 distinct areas - the sustainability exhibition, a meet and greet area and offices for the council officials. The materials were all sustainable - from recycled floorboards for the exhibition panelling, to Dalsouple Natrel rubber floors, recycled plastic tables and natural paints from Earthborn.
The low energy lighting feature is made from 1200 recycled water bottles and is lit by gently twinkling fibre optic lights - and aimed at catching the attention of passers and encouraging them to visit the centre.
Completion date: September 2007
