SUSTAINABLE HOME, BRIGHTON
Client: Oliver Heath.
Brief: To refurbish a 3 storey Victorian terrace house to sustainable principles.
Method: Under sustainable principles; we ensured that all products used within this refurbishment were either of reduced energy, from sustainable sources or recycled. This included low energy LED lighting, appliances that used minimal quantities of resources (such as electricity, gas and water), FSC rated timber and a wealth of recycled materials such as timber, rubber and plastics.
The design content was essential creating a style that is both contemporary and environmentally conscious to create a home that is a pleasure to live in and highly functional.
The key feature of the ground floor is a 6 metre long work surface of Glass Stone (85% crushed recycled glass in a solvent free resin), which draws the eye out towards a 5sq metre glass balcony that extends the floor plan and incorporates reclaimed timber, fold away seating.
Completion date: June 2005.
