WAREHOUSE CONVERSION, SHOREDITCH, LONDON

Client: Private clients

Brief: To convert a 1920s disused leather warehouse into a flexible live / work space. To give the clients the ability to stretch, relax, be creative, entertain, sleep and party.

Method: The conversion of the warehouse into a flexible and fun living space took place on a minimal budget. The design allowed the space to transform itself between day and night from a working environment into a space to relax and entertain within, whilst retaining a sense of urban luxury.

Sculptural ply sleeping pods were designed to be as small and efficient as possible. The pods provide privacy, while the frosted walls allow light to filter through by day and glow by night.

A sleeping platform is cradled within the structure above head height, allowing views across London, with access through a walk-in wardrobe tucked neatly underneath.

The original leather cutting table was chopped into two pieces and fitted with marine fittings, to form the 2 Ply 2 table, giving the option to seat either 12 or 25 people or to be winched up to the ceiling for parties.

The lounge was completed with a luxurious velvet covered mobile chaise lounge, pull up bar and swing.

Completion date: 1998.
