VICTORIAN HOUSE CONVERSION
Heath Design was asked to design and manage the building of an extension to a large semi detached Victorian house. The space was to create a dining area, living space, herb garden and a new way of connecting the family with their beautiful garden.
The design was inspired by the way old buildings develop over time; creating a softer exterior appearance made up of a variety of sized and style windows. A combination of new and antique windows has been used to add to the effect. This patchwork of glazing creates differing views both in and out, allowing the garden to be enjoyed in different ways depending on where you are. The soft playful aesthetic is given a contemporary style via the Douglas fir cladding.
The interior is kept light and airy by a line of roof lights and reflective surfaces allowing natural light to bounce back into the deeper recesses of the existing kitchen space.
