Schneider E-Book & Advocacy Work

Written with Schneider Electric this open-source e-book is a fascinating investigation into the nexus between designing for a sustainable future (for the planet), whilst also meeting the wellbeing needs of the people that occupy the built environment. The aim was to answer the simple question, ‘What is the home of the future?’

Within the e-book we investigate the current global environmental issues and the need to address these through the lenses of sustainable design and wellbeing in the home.  We demonstrate how we convert these challenges into creative opportunities, using compelling statistics to create the business case for its implementation.

We also discuss why a holistic approach to energy system design, installation and use (from start to finish) is needed - one that looks at a home’s current energy use and how well it supports the household’s physical and psychological wellbeing and identifies opportunities for improvements.

Finally, we show how others have risen to the challenge of meeting the dual issues of designing for the wellbeing of both people and planet in real life case studies. 

Ultimately, designing the home of the future requires us to engage with regenerative design, considering the health of both us and the planet. But to get there, we need to overcome the barriers, create a strong business case, and find solutions for the myriad of housing types that we live in – both new and existing.
